Abhijeet Borole is a chemical engineer with expertise in biomass/waste conversion and bioelectrochemical systems. He is currently a Research Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in Chemical Engineering and a Joint Faculty in Energy Science and Engineering program at the Bredesen Center. He is also the Co-Founder of Electro-Active Technologies. His research is focused on fermentation, digestion, microbial fuel / electrolysis cells. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers, 4 patents and 6 books/chapters. He works at the interface of biology, electrochemistry and engineering, targeting energy efficiency and electrosynthesis. He uses electroactive biofilms to develop sustainable solutions to waste problems.
